Texas State Board Requirements for Lash Artists

​

(Eyelash Extension Specialist – Texas)

To become a licensed Eyelash Extension Specialist in Texas, you must meet the requirements set by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).

Glance Lash Academy provides the 320-hour Eyelash Extension Specialist training program required by TDLR to qualify for licensure in Texas.

Minimum Requirements:
Applicants must be at least 17 years old and have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Training Requirement:

You must complete a 320-hour Eyelash Extension Specialist course at a TDLR-approved beauty school.

Texas Administrative Code – 320 Hour Requirement:
 

The program includes instruction in sanitation and safety, Texas laws and TDLR rules, lash theory and design, classic, volume, and hybrid application techniques, eye anatomy, adhesive chemistry, client consultation, and aftercare procedures.

Glance Lash Academy’s 320-hour program satisfies this TDLR training requirement.

Examination Requirements:
After completing the required training, you must pass both the written and practical state licensing exams. Exams are administered by PSI after TDLR confirms eligibility.

Application Process:
Once you have passed both exams, you must submit an online application to TDLR with proof of completed training hours, exam results, and a $50 licensing fee. Applicants may also be required to submit a Criminal History Questionnaire.

Alternative Licensing Options:
Individuals who hold a Cosmetology Operator License (1,000 hours) or an Esthetician License (750 hours) are also legally permitted to perform eyelash extension services in Texas.

License Renewal:
Eyelash Extension Specialist licenses are valid for two years and must be renewed through TDLR before expiration.
