Q. HOW MUCH MONEY CAN I MAKE AS AN EYELASH TECH?

Income as a lash technician depends on whether you are employed by a salon or operating independently, as well as your pricing, client demand, and location.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), lash artists fall under the category of Skincare Specialists. The most recent national data reports:

  • Median annual wage: $43,200

  • Top 10% earn: Over $78,000 per year

Source:
U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics – Skincare Specialists
https://www.bls.gov/ooh/personal-care-and-service/skincare-specialists.htm

These figures primarily reflect wage earners working in spas, salons, and medical offices.

What About Self-Employed Lash Technicians?

Independent lash artists set their own pricing and keep their service revenue (before expenses), which creates higher earning potential than wage-based employment.

For example:

If a self-employed lash technician averages:

  • 3 clients per day

  • $250–$300 per service

  • 5 days per week

That equates to approximately:

  • $3,750–$4,500 per week

  • $15,000–$18,000 per month

  • $180,000–$216,000 per year in gross revenue

Gross revenue is not the same as take-home pay. Business expenses such as rent, supplies, insurance, marketing, licensing, and taxes must be deducted.

Key Factors That Influence Earnings

Income varies significantly based on:

  • Geographic market

  • Pricing strategy

  • Booking consistency

  • Client retention and rebooking rate

  • Service mix (fills, volume sets, add-ons, retail, training)

  • Business management and promotion

While national labor statistics show the average range, self-employed lash technicians who build strong client demand and operate efficiently can exceed those figures.

Individual results will vary.
